Based at the University of Leeds, I am currently an Early Stage Researcher in the Childhood Deafness and Communication Research Marie-SkÅ‚odowska Curie Innovative Training Network – Comm4CHILD.

My current research is designed to point out and assess individual resources rather than deficits in early interactions between parents and children who do not share the experience of being d/Deaf or being hearing. More specifically, I look at how individuals with different experiences and resources of communication draw on multilingual and multimodal communication strategies in order to accommodate sensory and communicative needs in initiating and sustaining joint attention.

Moving away from a predominantly unimodal and monolingual perspective of the past, the current research endeavour reflects a systematic multimodal and multilingual approach to and analysis of communication in order to systematically describe – not prescribe – the communicative resources and strategies available to the individual, while taking into account their personal context and abilities.
